Who flies from Terminal 5?
Almost all British Airways flights at Heathrow use Terminal 5, along with Iberia and a small number of partner airlines. BA does run some routes from Terminal 3, so check your booking – the terminal is printed on your boarding pass and in the BA app. Add your flight number when you book and we’ll confirm the right terminal for you.
T5 is split into the main building (T5A) and two satellite buildings (T5B and T5C) linked by an underground transit train. Your gate may be a short train ride from security, so allow a few extra minutes on busy mornings.

Dropping off at Terminal 5
Your driver takes the terminal road up to the T5 departures forecourt on the upper level and drops you right outside the entrance doors. From there it’s a short walk to BA’s check-in and bag drop zones and then security. Heathrow’s terminal drop-off charge applies to every car using the forecourt – with us it’s already included in your fare.
British Airways recommends arriving at least three hours before long-haul flights and two hours before short-haul. We’ll suggest a pickup time that allows for traffic on the M25 and M4 and the walk to your gate.
Pickups from Terminal 5 arrivals

Travelling between Terminal 5 and other terminals
Connecting from a BA flight at T5 to another airline at Terminal 2, 3 or 4? Heathrow’s free inter-terminal transport links them, but if you’ve got bags to collect and re-check, or an overnight stop at a hotel, a quick taxi can be easier. For early BA departures, many travellers stay the night before at one of the hotels near Terminal 5 – the Sofitel is linked directly to the terminal by a walkway, and there are plenty more along the Bath Road. Taxi vs parking at Terminal 5
Terminal 5 has short-stay, long-stay and business parking, and prices rise quickly for trips of more than a few days. A return taxi transfer often costs less than a week of long-stay parking once you add fuel and the transfer bus from the long-stay car parks, and it means no-one has to drive home after a long-haul flight. For short business trips, the numbers can go either way – get a quote and compare.
Heathrow T5 with children
Terminal 5 is large, and the walk from the entrance to the furthest gates in T5B and T5C can take a while with little ones. Being dropped right outside the departures doors helps.
