Which Heathrow terminal do you need?
Heathrow’s four terminals are spread across a large site, and they aren’t connected airside, so getting the right one matters. Your driver will drop you at the correct departures forecourt, and for pickups they’ll wait in the right arrivals hall. As a rough guide:
- Terminal 2 (The Queen’s Terminal) – most Star Alliance airlines, including Lufthansa, United, Air Canada and Singapore Airlines, plus Aer Lingus.
- Terminal 3 – Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas and several other long-haul carriers.
- Terminal 4 – Qatar Airways, Etihad, KLM and a range of other international airlines.
- Terminal 5 – British Airways and Iberia.
Airlines do move terminals from time to time, so always check your booking confirmation. If you’re not sure, add your flight number when you book and we’ll check it for you.
How long does a taxi to Heathrow take?
From central London, Heathrow is around 15–18 miles away. Outside rush hour, a taxi from the West End usually takes 45 minutes to an hour; at peak times on the A4 and M4, allow 70 minutes or more. From the City and Canary Wharf, plan for an hour to an hour and a half. From Surrey towns like Woking, Guildford or Reigate the M25 is usually the quickest way in, and journey times depend heavily on the time of day.
For long-haul flights, most airlines recommend arriving at least three hours before departure; for short-haul, two hours. When you book, we’ll suggest a sensible pickup time based on your route and flight – and because the price is fixed, leaving a bit earlier to be safe costs you nothing extra.
Tip: Enter your flight number when you book. For arrivals we track your flight live, so if you land early or late your driver adjusts automatically – and you still get 60 minutes of free waiting from touchdown.
Meeting your driver at Heathrow arrivals
With our meet and greet service, your driver waits for you in the arrivals hall of your terminal holding a name board. We’ll text you their name and mobile number before you land, and once you’ve collected your bags you simply walk out and find them. They’ll help with your luggage and walk you to the car in the short-stay car park, which is only a couple of minutes away at every terminal.
If you’d rather not wait for them to come in – say you’re travelling light and in a hurry – just tell us in the booking notes and your driver can meet you at an agreed point instead.

Heathrow has excellent rail links, and for a solo traveller with a small bag heading to Paddington, the train can be the right choice. But the maths changes quickly once there are two or more of you, you’ve got real luggage, or you’re not starting from a station:
